Restaurant Project
Design a restaurant identity, with a theme, logo + graphics, letterhead + envelope + business card, table tent, drink label and menu
My design, The Thornbird [the idea taken from the story "the Thornbirds" by Colleen McCullough] is a tea house restaurant, marketed at creative types and a nostalgic older generation.
CD Project
Design a CD package, label and poster with lyrics.
Being a fan of Enya, I created a 'best of' CD with an illustrative poster. The cover design is a mix of photography and illustration and reflects the feeling of Enya's music, which is very relaxing and meditative.
Toy Project
Create a designer toy, its packaging and story.
The Vices and Virtues are a collectible series of soft toys reflecting the seven deadly sins and seven heavenly virtues. They each have names and come with their respective counterparts [ie Lola Lust comes with Chelsea Chastity], and come in a unique reversible bag with their initials on each side. Each material pattern is different for every vice and virtue.
Proust
The aim of this project was to answer personal (and random) questions about yourself in an original and versatile way. I decided to emulate fifties/sixties style illustrations and design it as though it was in a book. So, my answers were extracts with supporting illustration. I was honest in answering the questions, but rather exaggerating and taking the mickey out of me to make myself seem more interesting.
Type Poster
Poster reflecting research of a typeface or typographer. Instead of selling the type, this poster sets to highlight the flaws of Gill Sans and its designer, Eric Gill. This is a parody of an E! TV show, personifying Gill as a celebrity with a shocking secret (Gill Sans Ultra Bold).
Typeface Design
My first typeface, for Typography class. This is uppercase only. A monostroke serif face (bracketed, not slab serif) with embellished serifs based on Gill Sans light. Named after the Queen for nine days, Lady Jane Grey. Close up of selection of serifs can be seen here.
Bookjacket design
Based on the 1912 novel Daddy Long Legs, by Jean Webster
